March was Women's History Month. Of the many projects we worked on, our team was proud to support two live stream events focused on women in our military. Both took place at the Military Women's Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. It's a fantastic museum and event venue. If you're visiting the Cemetery don't forget to check it out.

Beyond Firsts

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Defense Department, in collaboration with the Military Women’s Memorial, hosted an historic Women, Peace, & Security discussion. This event featured, for the first time, all four of the Department of Defense's 4-star female officers. The "Beyond Firsts" panel discussion covered their unique perspectives and experiences as servicewomen and the impacts of having a diverse and inclusive warfighting force. The panel was moderated by CBS Evening News anchor Norah O'Donnell.

The live stream was hosted by Creative Liquid's FedStreaming platform and simulcast on the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS). Our crew covered the event with three cameras, which were live switched during the event. Production also included creating title graphics that matched the event's branding.

Women's Symposium

The second event in March was produced for the Valkyrie Project, a non-profit with the goal of enhancing military women's performance by sponsoring research in women's fitness initiatives and providing workout training to service members. They held a day-long Women's Symposium at the Military Women's Memorial attended by both an in-person and virtual audience.

The event featured four panel discussions throughout the day and a keynote from U.S. Army Major Shaye Haver, who was one of the first two women to graduate from the Army's Ranger School.

Both events were well attended both in person and virtually and both events have generated large audiences in on-demand viewing. Live streaming gives organizers the opportunity to reach a global audience, but also reach the on-demand audience. On-demand provides virtual attendees to view a recording of the program at any time.
