The Challenge.
A website redesign had been planned for years, but as with most organizations, other priorities continued to push it back. Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is one of the largest foster based rescue organizations in the Washington D.C. region. Founded in 2009, they have rescued over 29,000 animals and placed them in loving homes. Over the years Lucky Dog has grown from an entirely volunteer based nonprofit, focused on finding homes for dogs from South Carolina to an organization that rescues cats, dogs (and even the occasional guinea pig) from all over the United States. Their team has grown and they now have a dedicate team of staff, and a physical facility in South Carolina. This growth, expanded scope of their work, expanded team and reach all were under represented on their existing website. In addition the underlying website technology was at the end of life, and the hosting solution was overloaded from the amount of traffic, causing frequent disruptions in service.
The Solution.
Creative Liquid started with a new design for the website, and an expansion to include all of the new aspects of the organization. Expanded features include a new sub-site for their South Carolina facility, new capabilities to help reach donors, and advertise their events. Once the new design was completed, Creative Liquid's content team worked to rewrite and refocus the content on the website. Over the years, and due to the informal nature of a volunteer driven organization, the language was inconsistent, and much of it had not been reviewed in years. Creative Liquid worked with stakeholders to draft all new content and refresh the graphics, images and videos on the website.
The Result.
The newly redesigned website for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue was launched in Fall 2024, to a new cloud based VPS hosting solution, using the latest version of Drupal. The new site has a refined focus on key areas important to the organization, streamlining the experience for visitors, and allowing them to find important information on adoption, adoptable pets, fundraising events and donation opportunities.
